“Eyelet bending machines create a solid eye for the pin to pass through by heating and shaping the tip of the scissors blade into a cylindrical form.”
Leaf springs used in heavy-duty vehicles are among the most critical components of the suspension system, ensuring the vehicle’s stability, comfort, and road grip under load. The eyes (bush housings) located at the ends of the spring leaves allow connection to the chassis or the spring pin. Producing these eyes in a precise, accurate, and standardized manner is essential for ensuring both the safety and durability of the spring.
At this point, eye forming machines come into play. These machines heat and shape the end of the leaf spring into a cylindrical form, creating a robust eye through which the pin can pass.
Forming (Bending):
A hydraulically driven forming head bends the end of the spring leaf into a cylindrical shape.
Centering and Dimensional Inspection:
The formed eye is calibrated according to standard diameter and center measurements. This ensures that the pin fits properly without excessive clearance, which is crucial for operational reliability.
